Turtle Cold Brew Martini [St. Patrick's Day Cocktail!]
St. Patrick’s Day AKA Straight Pride is around the corner, and I had a feeling you were gonna want a special whiskey cocktail to celebrate, so of course I got to work making one for you sweetie! This little baddie is my take on an espresso martini, but instead of a fancy espresso machine, all you need is a some cold brew coffee concentrate. We’re using whiskey as our liquor (because IRELAND!!!) and giving it a tasty chocolate-pecan-toffee rim (Turtle-tini anyone?) because we all deserve a little treat.
This cocktail would make for a great brunch bev or nightcap for all you girlies who can sleep after a shot of cold brew. I’ve got the recipe down below for you to give it a try!
Turtle Cold Brew Martini
makes 1 martini | takes 5 minutes
for the rim
4 oz halved pecans
4 oz chocolate toffee candy (we used the Chocolate Toffee Chips from Trader Joe’s)
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
for the martini
1 oz heavy cream
1 1/2 oz simple syrup (see notes)
1 1/2 oz cold brew concentrate (see notes)
2 oz preferred whiskey
optional garnish
cold brew coffee clovers (make the night before by pouring cold brew concentrate into these clover molds!)
Combine the pecans and toffee candy in a zip top bag and crush using a rolling pin (or any blunt object, really) until the texture is crumbly with no pieces larger than a pea. Pour into a small shallow plate and set aside.
In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the chocolate chips on high in 30 second intervals, stirring between each trip through the microwave, until smooth. Dip the rim of your glasses about 1/4” deep into the melted chocolate and rotate. Tap off excess and rim the glass with the pecan and toffee crumble and set aside.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add your heavy cream, simple syrup, cold brew concentrate, and whiskey. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds and strain into your prepared glass. Top with a cold brew clover if using and enjoy.
Note
Make the simple syrup by combining 2 parts sugar to 1 part water in a saucepan and bringing to a boil, stir to dissolve and let cool before using.
To get the right punch of coffee flavor, make sure to use cold brew coffee concentrate not just cold brew coffee. Concentrate should be listed on the packaging.
