Apple Cider & Prosecco Spritz

I’m a clothes person. Some people in my life (like Matt!!!) wear as little as possible at all times. Me? I’m bundled. So when the weather starts to feel like pumpkin spice memes, it’s less about trading in my crop tops for turtle necks and more about no longer risking heat stroke while I continue to wear my favorite pants and long sleeve shirts.

And yes, I know I have a history of short shorts and crop tops, but that’s reserved for when it’s truly brutally hot! The rest of the summer, I choose to impractically dress in clothes that should be in my fall/winter closet, so at Beau Headquarters, this time of year’s transition has a little less to do with fashion and a lot to do with beverage choices.

As a Beverage Person, I pretty much always have two drinks nearby — usually water and caffeine, and I’m very particular about what I am drinking at any given time. So a change of seasons is big for me and my liquids. The coffee? Goes from iced to hot. Liquor of choice? Vodka and tequila make way for whiskey. And the wine? Just like Jesus did (???) it’s going from white to red.

During the transitional periods between seasons, I try new things. I try things like an Apple Cider & Prosecco Spritz, which came recommended by Sydney, our friend who we pay to keep our life and business in order. She struck gold with this one. It’s got the flavors of fall and the effervescence of summer. A bid farewell to my least favorite season and a slightly-too-long-hug given to my favorite time of year.

It’s perfect not only for its ability to bridge the gap between the seasonal incarnations of hell and heaven, but also for its simplicity. The recipe below, which is hardly a recipe, really just needs two ingredients: apple cider and sparkling wine. If you’re a hard cider fan like I am, this will be right up your alley as it basically accomplishes the same goal, just with a slightly more summertime flavor palette.

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Apple Cider & Prosecco Spritz

  • Apple cider (you could use non-alcoholic or hard cider)

  • Sparkling wine (a Prosecco or Cava works totally fine here)

  • Cinnamon sticks and apple slices for garnish

Pour 2 ounces of apple cider into your champagne glass or coupe, top with sparkling wine, garnish and enjoy!
