Our Pumpkin Carving Tradition & Autumn Portrait Inspiration!

Despite being two grown men with no children in sight, we pretty much always set aside time to carve pumpkins. It’s silly, it’s fun, it’s an excuse to spend time together for real cheap—and we love a healthy competition (Matt always carves the cuter pumpkin and I am fine with this).

In the past few years we’ve taken portraits with our pumpkins, which has been a lovely addition to our annual pumpkin carving date. This year’s portraits were taken all over the land at our Tennessee house—from the garden patch to the cottage that is currently under construction. It’ll be cool to look back on and see how much has changed! A little pumpkin head time capsule of what life looked like in 2023 :)

You can see our 2020 and 2021 portraits below (we skipped 2022 because we were in wedding prep mode!) along with all of this year’s photos!
