Hello from home! We just got back last night from Los Angeles, where we spent a long weekend with friends celebrating my birthday and our anniversary. It was a sweet relaxing weekend with plenty of warm sunshine and I wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate any other way.

For anyone wondering what travel is like during COVID-19 drama… the New Orleans and Los Angeles airports and flights were honestly just as packed as always. Which really bummed me out because I was banking on no one else being there. But, there were some great health measures in effect. There was an airport employee in LAX whose entire job seemed to be to stand at the bottom of the escalator with a sterilizer rag held tight against the handle as it looped down, so that everyone getting on the escalator had a remotely clean place to put their hands. Not an ideal job to have, but it definitely made me feel like at least some effort was being made on part of the airport.

There were also hand sanitizer stations everywhere throughout the airport, which is maybe always a thing that I just never noticed? Oh and men were… get this… washing their hands after they peed! Usually I get a lot of time alone at the mirror to wash my hands and fix my hair after using a public restroom, but nope not any more. So many men with clean hands, a true miracle.

On the plane—even after being told the crew had spent an extra twenty minutes disinfecting the plane—we used sanitizing wipes to wipe down our seats and everything we could possibly touch, and were then reassured by the girl sitting next to us she had gotten there early to Lysol-bomb the entire row. So, overall it seemed like everyone was on the same page. If you want or need to travel by plane during all this virus stuff, I’d just recommend carrying sanitizing wipes and washing your hands often, and then washing your travel clothing as soon as you get to your destination.

Now that we’re home and unpacked, the rest of the week we’re playing catch up on a few blog projects and trying to avoid going out into the world a ton just * in case * we picked anything up while traveling.

I hope that wherever you are in the world, your week has been nothing short of decent so far. With all the crazy happening politically, etc, I hope you take some time to detach from your devices and do something to recharge your body and mind and spirit.

Pssttt… don’t forget there’s currently a CLEARANCE sale (code CLEARANCE) for 40% off our entire shop—totes, sweatshirts, t-shirts, cross-body bags, enamel pins, oh my.

Weekly… Doing?

So heads up, I had a very hard time finding interesting weekly reading links that were NOT about the coronavirus, and I refuse to share exclusively links on that because I’m personally tired of hearing about it until there is news that is actually… new. So, in lieu of all that, you’ve got just two Corona-Links below, and the rest is stuff I recommend doing for relaxation and/or entertainment, especially for all y’all staying home more than usual for social distancing.

First: The two stances people seem to be taking right now. How To Prepare For The End Of The World (via New York Times) and Young People Capitalize on Cheap Coronavirus Flights, “If I Die, I Die” (via NBC). Here’s my take: be a responsible citizen and take precaution so that even if you do get infected, you don’t infect others… and also, chill out a little bit.

Second: Most of y’all know Im a big fan of yoga, and if you’re stuck inside and getting less movement than usual, now is a perfect time to give some at-home yoga practice a go. Light a candle, pick a good yoga playlist from Spotify (I really like the “Yoga Flow” playlist), and follow a guided practice on your phone, laptop, or smart TV. Personally, I recommend going with a vinyasa flow, like this free 40 Minute Vinyasa flow for strength from Yoga with Adriene.

Then: Now is a great time for a home improvement project. Some favorites include… this very cool DIY Midcentury Wall Unit (via Old Brand New) , this very green and dangly DIY Adjustable Plant Window (via Probably This) , and this very colorful DIY Unique Art That Fits Your Home (via Probably This)

Finally: Hate home improvement projects? OK, weird, but I get it. How about food? Shit, I hope you like making food. Some recipes to try… this very fresh and yummy Spring Veggie Bibimbap (via Probably This) , this very purple Beet Tapenade with Za’atar Pita Chips (via Probably This) , and this very perfect-for-movie-night Matcha White Chocolate Popcorn (via Probably This)
