Our Secret Gift Wrapping Tool

We’ve run this here home lifestyle blog for, what, like five years now? And to be honest, while we never really go all out with holiday decorations, we’ve gotten pretty great at doing other holiday staples like decorating cookies and making boozy hot chocolate and of course learning how to nail a perfect lip sync to “Santa Baby.” One of our weak points? Neither of us...somehow... could wrap a present properly until this week. Like, seriously. I mean, we were never terrible at it, but we’d always need to hide rips or just wind up with presents that looked...lumpy? Somehow?

So we decided to actually work on that this year instead of resorting to the expensive fancy gift boxes that require no effort. We put on the “Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show” (shoutout to the Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and Prime Video!) and used our Amazon Echo Show to go over some gift-wrapping tutorials.

We originally gave the Echo Show a test drive in October and used it to make cinnamon rolls. We were so so so impressed with how easy it made getting all the info we could ever need with just a few commands—for everything from making a shopping list to pulling up relevant products we could get for recipes or projects around the house, and at any time we wanted we could take hands-free video calls.

Getting Alexa’s help for a gift wrapping tutorial was every bit as useful. Having a step by step guide (and being able to be like, “Alexa please pause” whenever we made a misstep) was great and helped us nail down the art of gift wrapping. It was kind of like the clay-throwing scene in Ghost but we were Demi Moore and the Echo Show was Patrick Swayze.

Anyway, how did we do?! We’re proud of our little present babies and can’t wait to hand them out this year during the holidays. Oh, and to make it extra meta, we’re actually gifting a few of our favorite Amazon devices!

Also can we take 5 seconds to talk about the Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show? We’ve been fans of her forever and were SO EXCITED when she released her show on Amazon Prime Video. Omg so excited. And it delivered! There are so many good duets, an appearance by her nana, and amazing costumes and sets. We loved it and 100% recommend watching it while you wrap your gifts this year. All we had to do was say, “Alexa, watch The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show” with our Fire TV Stick Alexa Voice Remote and we could start watching.
