Our Kitchen Drawer Dividers + Picks for Kitchen Organization
Do you know what’s really jarring? Renovating a kitchen into a perfect-for-you place of beauty and then opening a drawer and having it look like the depths of rejected kitchen utensil hell.
That’s how we’ve been living since we finished our kitchen in September! It took us a while to finally decide on the company we wanted to use for drawer inserts, and then it took us a while to figure out configuration, and then it took a while for us to actually receive the custom-made pieces! All of that added up to a solid six months of mess.
But no more! We spent an afternoon cleaning up our drawers and organizing the contents into their new little homes, and we couldn’t be happier with how they came out. We couldn’t give a more glowing review of the company, either!
We found Drawer Space Store on Etsy after doing a bit of digging and decided to go with them because of how, well, organized their selection of drawer organizers was. You can scroll through their page and find dozens of templates for whatever it is you need—butcher block inserts, silverware dividers, little cubby inserts for, I don’t know, things you’d store in little square cubbies. It’s great!
As much as we love the dividers we received, they are a bit more of a luxe option than we’d ever use if we were renting or hadn’t budgeted as much for this project. Below, we’ve included more cost-effective dividers along with other kitchen organizational items to help your kitchen remain clutter free :)
1.) Custom Drawer Divider with Butcher Block | This is the company we used for all of our dividers! They’ve got a huge range of different orientations, and they can be custom fit to your drawer dimensions.
2.) Acacia Expandable Drawer Divider | An expandable drawer divider in a gorgeous acacia wood with space for everything you need.
3.) Bamboo Expandable Drawer Divider | An expandable drawer divider in sturdy and long-lasting bamboo at the most affordable price you’ll find for this category on Amazon!
4.) Kitchen Dolly Accent Cabinet| When the kitchen clutter extends onto the countertop or piles up in cabinets, it’s time to bring in extra measures. This cute and functional piece is the perfect size for most kitchens, and it’s on wheels to make it easy to move between spaces!
5.) Unlacquered Brass Wall Mounted Pot Rack | We’re suckers for unlacquered brass, and this wall mounted rack is a major decorative and functional upgrade for any kitchen.
6.) Acacia Knife Block Drawer Insert | We’re used to seeing knife blocks stored on the counter, but tbh it’s a waste of counter space and also a surefire way to have weird crumbs and food bits end up around the base. Enter: the butcher block drawer insert. Chic! Functional! That 3 a.m. intruder will never know what you’re reaching for!
7.) Art Deco Lazy Susan | Lazy Susans are especially useful for that spot in the back corner of an L-shaped counter that is literally humanly impossible to reach. Toss a cute lazy Susan on and gain storage while utilizing dead space.
8.) Empty Spice Jars with Spice Labels & Writable Blank Labels | A perfectly uniform spice rack? It’s a flex, not gonna lie. These are so cute and at such a great price and come with writable labels so you can switch them out and add new labels as needed.
9.) Custom Spice Drawer Insert | Spice drawers are clutter magnets, but these inserts are here for you sweetie! Customize to the size of your drawer and you’re all set!
Other than utilizing products that will help you stay organized, if you’re a Messy Drawer person, consider adding drawer organization to your daily or weekly kitchen cleaning task list. I find that I’m less likely to keep everything in it’s place as I’m using it throughout the day—when I’m trying to find my favorite spoon (yeah…) for yogurt while I’m rushing into a meeting, there’s no chance in hell I’m going to gently put everything back in place. Instead, I just have it on my mental to do list that at the end of the night when I wipe down the counters I also open the drawers and take literally one minute to quickly get everything back in it’s place. If everyday sounds terrible, maybe it’s something you do once a week on, like, a Sunday. The point is: build it into a routine of some sort so you don’t have to “remember” to do it or face it getting out of control and becoming an overwhelming monstrosity.
:-)
Speaking of overwhelming monstrosity, I’ve got to go get my life in order, ciao!
