Home Workout Equipment & Resources

home workout

Hello from, well, home! We spent a lot of time at home before everything went to hell with COVID-19, but now that we’re basically all in quarantine… well, this is a whole new level. Because before all *gestures everywhere* this… we lived together AND worked together, so we’ve pretty much always gone to the gym separately to make sure we get some me time away from each other. CrossFit and hot yoga have really become key pillars in our mental health self care, so with all gyms and fitness studios in Louisiana closed (and our own interest in practicing social distancing), we’re trying to avoid completely falling apart by getting creative with at-home workouts.

Luckily, we relied pretty heavily on “at home” workouts on our long road trip with Rosie the Trailer, so we already had a few tried and true basic pieces of equipment that help add diversity to home workouts. Nothing like doing crunches in a trailer park outside of Vegas, am I right? That actually didn’t happen, but we did have a very sad two days in a trailer park outside of Vegas and no I don’t want to talk about it.

Anyway, below we’ve got some of our favorite pieces of equipment and apparel to help stock you up for an at-home workout regimen, as well as some recommendations for online fitness gurus to follow and other resources for at-home workouts and inspo! Thank you to everyone who dm’d us or commented their favorite fitness content creators; we couldn’t have come up with such an extensive list without your help!

Equipment & Apparel

Pull-Up Bar

Great for pull-ups, chin ups, and ab exercises like L-sits and knee ups! This one took minimal install and hasn’t damaged our doorway, which, like, that’s good! $40

Speed Jump Rope

There is no cardio like jumping rope! Adding jump rope to your workouts can ad that extra little bit of difficulty to turn a good workout into a great one. Whether you do just a regular single jump or double-unders, just a few minutes of jump rope can go a long way in getting your heart rate up and helping you break a sweat.

Kettlebells

One of our absolute favorite tools for diverse workouts! Kettlebell swings, farmer’s carry, Turkish get-ups, rows, and more! If you’re new to kettlebells, starting with something lighter for you may be a good idea as they do take some getting used to. If you can swing the cost, we’d recommend getting two of the same weight for things like farmer’s carries and kettlebell deadlifts, but if not there’s a whole lot you can do with just one! Tons of amazing kettlebell workouts are on YouTube! $20 - $80

Ab Roller

Fantastic for core work for all levels $15

Yoga Mat

Way more than yoga! You can use it for pushups, ab-rolling, sit-ups, etc. A soft surface to keep your body and floors/rugs in good shape during at-home workouts. $12

Resistance Band

These are what you wanna use to add a little bit of resistance to pretty much any body weight exercise. They can also be used for a variety of rows and presses. $13

4” liner shorts

One of our favorites from Lululemon for easy movement. They’re light and breathable, making them perfect for an outdoor run if you need some fresh air. $68

Metal Vent Tech Long Sleeve

We’ve had this top for a solid five years and it still feels as good as new. Love it for running or outdoor workouts in brisk weather or workouts in the house. $88

Metal Vent Tech Short Sleeve

This is our next purchase! It uses the same “anti-stink” technology of the one we mentioned above, but comes in fun color selects. $78
