Sometimes I forget I’m an author of a book.

I’ll be going about my business and something will make it pop into my head and I’ll feel strangely proud of myself as if it hasn’t been a reality for, as of today, an entire year.

The late nights of shuffling papers filled with incoherent thoughts back and forth with Matt while we edit each others’ work. Afternoons spent wide-eyed staring at what appears to be thirty slightly different versions of the same photo, choosing which permutation of the elements within the photograph looks best. Months of waiting for the first copies of the book to come in, long after we’d turned in our materials and wiped “write a book” off of our to-do list.

It all kind of feels like a fever dream from a different life? Which comes as no surprise to me.

I often find myself at the intersection of accomplishment and imposter syndrome, and it’s lead to some of my biggest achievements—though I’m very proud of them—feeling like they were done by a version of me I haven’t ever met.

Luckily, with Housewarming having gotten so much incredible support from our community online, I’m reminded of this accomplishment on a very regular basis. Every time someone posts a DIY project or recipe from the book, or tags us in an Instagram story with the cover proudly displayed on a coffee table, or sends us a kind message about something they found compelling within it’s pages, I get a fresh sense of pride and a reminder that this piece of work that Matt and I spent crafting together over the course of two years is out there in many homes and on many shelves inspiring and entertaining many people.

Thank you for making this year of Housewarming so special, and for showing us so much love and support. We couldn’t, and wouldn’t, do it without you.
