A Summer Bonfire with Weenies and S'mores

A Summer Bonfire with Weenies and S'mores

One of my favorite parts of a summer in the mountains is that we’ve got nights cool enough to enjoy a bonfire. A summertime bonfire really just feels right in a weird primal sort of way. Being from the Gulf South, whenever I’d see people having bonfires in the summer, I’d think, “Are you a freaking idiot? Aren’t you sweltering???” Now I get it. Not everywhere has summers that test your body’s resiliency to heatstroke on a daily basis. We’ve got a big fire pit in our garden that we used as a bonfire for our wedding reception, and the other night we decided to light her up for a little music and wine and weenie roasting time, with s’mores, of course.

The ingredients for a great bonfire are simple: brush up on your bonfire building skills, have an outdoor speaker (the one we love also has a karaoke microphone, just saying…) with a summer playlist locked and loaded, roasting skewers long enough to keep your arm hair intact, and a good mix of traditional weenies, fancy weenies, and all the condiments.

I’m excited for the day we’ve got kids of our own to teach all about bonfire-ing, but for now, I’m glad I’ve got the man of my dreams and a full glass to enjoy it all with.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

xoxo Beau
