Fall 'Chill Out' Playlist 2017
It may not be super obvious from our v curated Instagram feed but Beau and I lead pretty chaotic lives. It's not like messy chaos (though sometimes on huge food shoot days we end up with a terrifying mountain of dirty dishes) but it's just this feeling of always working and never really feeling finished that I think a whole lot of people feel. Like, definitely anyone who works in this self-employed/freelance world we're in. Or anyone who has any kind of job. Or anyone who exists at all.
We've been back to real life after vacation for about a week now, and after a couple days of a post-vacation slump (which was honestly just a great excuse to binge Stranger Things 2 ✌️😬) we've started figuring out strategies for making our life together look a lot more like we actually want it to look. And what I mean by strategies is just that we're doing most of the same bad organizational habits, but just taking the time to actually chill out and proceed calmly through the day.
Enter: our favorite cute new record player (we'll explain). In partnership with eBay for their #FillYourCartWithColor campaign, we got this amazingly adorable pink velvet turntable right before heading to the mountains.
We loved it immediately, but we were even more stoked about it once we got there and realized how spotty the internet was going to be out there for music streaming. If you really want to make two 20-something bloggers lose their entire minds, take away cell service and wifi for a week. But now that we're home and fall's in full swing, we're enjoying using the record player around the house to help set a super calm soundtrack to our daily routine. Something about vinyl is just ... I don't know ... more relaxing and cozy. It's really helping us just take a bit more time to chill the heck out.
I've been collecting vinyls since I was maybe 12 and my mom gave me a bunch of her old ones. So we've got old-school classics she gave to me then like Fleetwood Mac's Rumors and Carole King's Tapestry, and then we've got some newer favorites that we were so excited to put on display once they came in the mail, like Solange's A Seat at the Table. There's a great mix across time and style, and that's what makes it so enjoyable to us.
So here's our official fall chillout playlist, and your instructions are to listen to these only on vinyl and *truly feel* the music.** Click through where you can to check these out for yourself!
**Okay if that's too many steps here's a streaming link, but just please know that you're cheating.
