Beau's mom is buying a new home!
And she's letting us queen out over potential design ideas! Which means we get to skip the headache part of home buying and only do the fun side of making it cute. Yeah pretty much our ideal scenario. While a lot of our design work in the past has focused on interiors, Beau's mom is considering trading out the partial siding on her new home for something that fits her personality a bit better, so of course we had to get involved. Taking a quick look over potential labor costs, we found it's not all that expensive to trade out old weathered siding for something with a bit more pizazz, in a color she'll love.
We partnered with James Hardie® to try and find the perfect color, and picked out three samples to check out in person. They actually provide free samples to anyone interested and offer an Inspiration Guide to help get you in the zone. Since we all prefer earth tones and Beau's mom has had a light green home in the past, we chose three different shades of green to compare. We were really happy that the big selection of baked-on colors had quite a few options that fit his mom's *vibe*. We went with (in order of lightest to darkest color in the photos) Soft Green, Heathered Moss, and Mountain Sage. Our favorite was the Heathered Moss for it's warm earthy tones that felt unique but not too over the top.
One thing that struck us immediately after unboxing our samples was how rich the colors are. You know sometimes when you buy clothes online the in-person color is just a faded version of what you saw on the website? It's not cute! But not a problem here. Like, dang, these colors are legit AND the advanced ColorPlus® technology James Hardie uses coats surfaces, edges, and features uniformly to help the house have that fresh siding charm for years to come.
Beyond its color, the fiber cement siding feels incredibly sturdy and strong, not even bending the slightest bit. We learned James Hardie® makes siding to withstand the climate in which it is used the to help the product stays strong and good as new even though it's exposed to the elements nonstop. Going the extra mile here, the ColorPlus® technology has a 15-year limited finish warranty. That's a long time, y'all.
K so guess we have to buy a home for ourselves now to fully live out our newfound siding fantasy. Until then, Beau's mom has basically signed herself up to have us involved every step of the way on her new home project.
Let us know if you've got any fun design projects coming up, we *love* to give our opinions on everything from paint color options to furnishings to, well, siding!
Also pssst, we're not alone in being impressed with this product! HardiePlank lap siding is backed by the Good Housekeeping Seal, so you know it's good. If ya wanna try it out for yourself, order a few of their free samples!
